Renewable Energy Project Developer
I. Job Summary
Supports the Renewable Energy Director of Marketing and produces feasibility studies for WM landfills, identifying and proposing on third party projects, and market analyses.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Development of projects on WM landfills:
oMaintain a data base of potential projects based on gas flows and energy markets.
oPerform feasibility studies to evaluate gas flow, energy pricing, permitting, interconnect, and landfill operations conditions.
oAnalyze opportunities for WMRE to purchase assets on WM landfills currently owned by third parties
Development of projects on third party landfills:
oEstablish network of contacts in the industry to identify potential projects
oPerform feasibility studies and pro forma evaluations to target high-potential sites
oPrepare proposals to third parties and follow through with contract negotiation
Evaluation of renewable energy growth opportunities
oAnalyze various renewable energy technologies
oDevelop a long term renewable energy growth strategy
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct supervision of full-time employees.
- No indirect supervision of full-time employees.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering or business-related field
- At least 5 years of experience in marketing or development in the renewable energy industry.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Professional registration in field of study
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- General knowledge of landfills and landfill gas operations.
- Understanding of technical concepts of electricity generation and transmission.
- Experience in renewable energy markets.
- General knowledge of state and federal electric industry rules and policies.
